Cooked Meat Enriched Broth is used for cultivation and maintenance of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. The beef heart is a source of amino acids and is higly nutrient. Specially developed heart peptones mixture enhance growth. Clostridium is identified by proteolytic action of the cooked meat resulting in the breakdown of meat particles.

PRECAUTIONS
This medium is for IN VITRO diagnostic use only.

STORAGE
Store prepared media at 2-8º C protected from direct light. Medium must not be used if there are signs of contamination or if the expiry date has passed. Store dehydrate powder in a dry place in tightly-sealed containers at 2-25º C. Do not use dehydrated media if expiry date has passed.

DIRECTIONS
Suspend 62.5 grams in 1 liter of purified water. Allow to stand for 15 minutes until all particles are wetted. Sterilize at 121º C for 15 minutes. Cool to 45-50º C. Mix thouroughly and dispense into sterile culture tubes.

PROCEDURE
Prior to inoculation, put the tubes, with loosened caps, in boiling water for 15 minutes and cooling to room temperature.

1. Inoculate specimens as soon as possible. Tighten the caps.
2. Incubate at 35º C for 24-72 hours and then up to 7 days
3. Examine tubes daily for visual signs of growth.

This medium is only a part of identification. Other tests may be required.
