F.B. BROTH (FASTIDIOUS BROTH)

FB Broth, a liquid enriched medium, is used for cultivation of fastidious microorganisms even for specimens that may contain small numbers. Various enrichments enhance fastidious aerobes and anaerobes growth. Agarose replace bacteriological agar to decrease oxygen tension and permit a better visualization of growth.

PRECAUTIONS
This medium is for IN VITRO diagnostic use only.

STORAGE
Store prepared media at 2-8º C protected from direct light. Medium must not be used if there are signs of contamination or if the expiry date has passed.

PROCEDURE
Bring prepared medium to room temperature before use.

1. Inoculate specimens as soon as possible.
2. Incubate at 35º C with 5% CO₂ during 48-72 hours with loosely caps.
3. Examine tubes daily for visual signs of growth.
4. Confirme growth by Gram stain and subculture to general purpose plate.

This medium is only a part of identification. Other tests may be required.
